In 2002, Rick created Europe House, Inc., a non-profit advocacy organization, fostering a better global understanding of the European Union, and its member states, through lobby activities, business ventures, trade missions, educational, business and technological exchanges, internet applications, the media, conferences, seminars, sports, cultural activities and exchange programs. In this capacity he actively promotes European solidarity on issues of common interest to its citizens, and the further strengthening of European unity, through an international network of partner organizations and volunteers. Europe House is affiliated with numerous local and regional public, and private sector organizations throughout the world. Rick and his team of partners have developed a strong presence on the Internet for Europe House with the interactive website www.europehouse.com, and electronic news report services at eu-digest.com and www.turkishdigest.com Rick became a board member of the International Business Consortium Alphen (IBCA) in the Netherlands in 1991. His strong fundraising skills and organizational talents were among the major factors in the successful launching of this unique European consortium, together with four other corporations and two financial institutions. The consortium is designed to attract and assist small and medium-sized corporations who want to relocate or expand their business abroad. Rick’s familiarity with regulations and laws on a local and international level, covering the incorporation and profitable functioning of corporations, and public sector organizations in foreign environments, has provided him with an extensive network of international contacts in both the private and public sector in Europe, the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Far East. These skills brought him a variety of advisory positions and numerous speaking engagements and specific research assignments in these areas. Rick was born in the Republic of Suriname, and is a citizen of the Netherlands. His educational background is in political science, history and industrial journalism, and he is proficient in five languages. Prior to starting his own business in 1982, Rick worked in management positions for the Public and Private sector in Switzerland, Suriname, the Netherlands and the United States. He is a member of several professional and social organizations and has a keen interest in history, economics and politics.
